“ Last night, I visited a hidden gem near RavenswoodAlbany Park and was delighted by the authentic Mexican cuisine. As someone who grew up in Mexico for 10 years and is of Mexican descent, I am quite particular about my Mexican food. The Tampiquena cut was exceptional, featuring nicely seasoned meat cooked to perfection and accompanied by two enchiladas the chicken option is superior to cheese. The platter also includes jicama salad and madurosplantains. The restaurants BYOB policy is a significant advantage. My only recommendation would be to provide beans and rice as an alternative to maduros, which can be requested. ”
“ Went out of my way to try this place while in Chicago for work. The complimentary chips and dip were good. The chips themselves were great. The dip was good but spicy. Would love to see their take on a salsa. For my dinner I had shrimp in a garlic sauce. It was outstanding. The sauce was so good. Good enough to lick the plate I used the spoon instead. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The rice was excellent. The salad was even great. Highly recommend this place. Will come back next time Im in Chicago. ”
“ I was in town visiting friends and they made reservations for here. This was my first time here. The decor was great and had a very relaxing atmosphere. It is a BYOB establishment and we brought some tequila and got the watermelon mixer. It was fresh squeezed and tasted amazing. Very delicious and was a great compliment to the tequila we brought. I got the guacamole as an appetizer. I was awesome tasting especially with the tiny basket of chips. I got the half order which was just the right amount. I ordered the enchiladas morita. The presentation was great and it tasted wonderful! It was sooooo good. It is a must try item if you go which you should. I will definitely be getting this again next time I visit. The staff was extremely friendly and had great suggestions on items to get. They were also very attentive to the table and refilled water and kept checking if we needed any additional things. Everyone should definitely try out this place if they even was thinking about it. Go! ”
“ Met up with some close friends and enjoyed dinner inside. I have been wanting to try El Xangarrito for the longest time, and Im so glad we did! I called a few days in advance to make Saturday reservations, and everything from the atmosphere to the service and of course, the food was wonderful! Our server was Jenn, and she was really attentive, familiar with the menu, and made helpful suggestions. As I made my reservations, I asked about their BYOB policy and they said they could make a margarita mix for us if we brought our own tequila, and WOW it was so good, my friends and I were wanting to replicate it ourselves at home! I had the veggie enchiladas with rice and beans on the side, and it was absolutely delicious and it even heated up well at home when I took the rest of it to go! I loved my visit here, and would be happy to recommend it to others! Next time, well aim for the cute patio space ”

“ This is truly a hidden gem. Tucked into a tiny little space on Rockwell Street, youd miss this place if you didnt look for it. My favorite items are the ceviche, ribs, and enchiladas. They have two different kinds of moles and will let you sample both. Its BYOB, so bring some drinks! Parking is easy! ”
“ Great customer service and fantastic food! The guacamole was some of the best we ever had and the steak was cooked to perfection. They have great vegetarian options as well. Really wish they had a liquor license, I bet their cocktails would be delicious but its byob so dont forget your wine! The place is small so you may want to make a reservation on the weekend. ”
“ We madeLast minute reservations GREAT walk ins are welcome but reservations highly recommended its a small place so it can get is tight seating. BUT , food, service and Vibes are excellent! Would recommend and definately coming back! We ordered 3 appetizers and 3 different main course meals , you can tell this isnt just an ordinary cook, its a chef look at the delightful display of plates before we indulged in this Culinary experience. It was all really really good, and fulfilling. ”
